As Seventh-day Adventists, we hold to fundamental beliefs based on Scripture. These beliefs guide our understanding of God, salvation, and how we live our lives.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the ultimate authority for our faith and practice.

Salvation

We believe salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone, by God's grace, not by works.

The Sabbath

We observe the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) as a day of rest and worship, as God established at creation.

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ, called to share the gospel and serve others.

28 Fundamental Beliefs

Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church's understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture.

Our 28 fundamental beliefs are organized into six major doctrines, each grounded in Scripture. Click on any scripture reference to read it in context.

Doctrine of God

Our understanding of the nature and character of God

1.

The Holy Scriptures

The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote by the Holy Spirit.

2.

The Trinity

There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons.

3.

God the Father

God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation.

4.

God the Son

God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged.

5.

God the Holy Spirit

God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in Creation, incarnation, and redemption. He inspired the writers of Scripture and filled Christ's life with power.
